Centexbel, Textile Competence Centre
Centexbel, the Belgian Textile Research Centre, was founded in 1950 at the initiative of Fedustria, the Belgian professional organisation of the textile, wood and furniture industry to reinforce the competitive position of the Belgian textile companies.
To fulfil this mission, Centexbel offers an extensive range of activities to the textile industry, including testing, certification, consultancy, training and Research & Development while guaranteeing:
- independent and objective advice
- the expertise of 150 highly educated collaborators
- transsectorial and international networking
- focus on sustainable development
- practice-oriented support
- an open approach
In 2014, VKC (Flemish Plastics Centre) became a division of Centexbel, by which the expertise and services are expanded to the plastic converting industry.

Image of the month
The word cashmere is an old spelling of the Kashmir region in northern India and Pakistan. Cashmere is fine in texture, strong, light, and soft. Garments made from it provide excellent insulation, approximately three times that of sheep wool. Cashmere is also softer than regular wool.
